Walter “Walt” Gingerbear represented Indianapolis as Mr. Great Lakes Olympus Leather 2013, earning his title at the 501 Eagle during the November 16–17 contest weekend preceding his title year. His win became part of the region’s continuing contribution to Olympus Leather.
At the regional competition, Walt presented a theatrical fantasy exploring opposing sides of his personality through “good” and “evil” versions of Walter. The contemporary account described an enthusiastic audience response, preserving a glimpse of his stage presence and creativity.
Walt went on to represent Great Lakes at International Mr. Olympus Leather on May 11, 2013, at the Hilton LAX during DomCon Los Angeles. He joined contestants from across the regional Olympus network in a competition that celebrated the Leather community’s diversity.
His involvement continued beyond competing. Walt was listed among the judges for the November 2013 Great Lakes Olympus Leather and Power Exchange contests, when Bear Abbott earned the 2014 Olympus title.
Later records name Walter Gingerbear as a judge at Bluegrass Leather Pride in Louisville in March 2015 and SouthEast LeatherFest in 2017. These appearances document his continued participation in Leather events beyond his home region and his contribution to welcoming and evaluating subsequent generations of community titleholders.
